Stainless steel will corrode when placed in carbon steel screws?
I have to attach a stainless steel (316) to a sewer "Colourbond steel panel in a building. The plumber is concerned that the galvanically dissimilar mettals rust. I do not know the potential for corrosion of steel stainless and mild steel so I can not see if this will happen.
Steel rusts when exposed to oxidation of iron. Not the fact that they are dissimilar such as copper in the steel pipe and the fact electrolysis. It is the rusted steel made iron giving the low carbon steel. If I could seal the holes drilling hardened steel, silicon is not oxidized to the SS will not be any problem in our lives. Perhaps to resolve any question of implementation a bead of silicone between the two. Use SS screws and touching mild steel. I am well versed in this. Why 316, 304 is cheaper
