What is the safest way to hang Christmas lights along the power line of your roof?

OK, so I put the lights Christmas along the top of my house in this picture: http://christmaslightstomusic.com/images/christmas_lights2.jpg. If it is not just along the line sewer and to the peak and back down. What is a safe way to do this? Obviously, using nails or staples is not an option because I will not put holes on the roof, resulting in a leak in the roof when I remove the threads. Also I have something to run until the wind because my position is not uncommon to have 20 30 mph winds. I tried it last year with metal wire to hold the ridge vents, but the wind ended up blowing the cable so that it would be on one side the ceiling in one place and then on the other side in another place, a very neglected.
