As an indicator of holiday?

I have a small screen that I have set vacation, which consists of animatronic deer, polar bears and a train on vacation. I have only one outdoor GFCI outlet is in the back of the house. To run my lights outdoor use thick green extension cords, but I do not want covered ropes along the way, I go by the wayside. I believe that two 25-foot cables connected to the stream running down, and I use several extensions over green all the power in the courtyard. My question is this: When it snows no problem .. but when it rains (the last couple of Christmas in Minnesota were warm and rainy) popping the GFCI, and I have to wait maybe 2-3 days after the rain stops to turn them back or just travel. What do you think is causing this? Is there a better way to get all these? Any help you can provide is appreciated, because I was really disappointed, and I'm really thinking of selling my stuff and not decorate again ….. Thanks

Ahhhhhh yes, the decorarting holiday in the snow and rain. I'm in the desert now! We used to run our cable extension to a share of power (the one with three outlets and timer). I could cover with a sealing bag and tie closed with a wire at the base. We did the same for all connections of cable extension cord extension. In this way the water comes in GFI travel connections.
