Glossary of specialty printing

Create your own marketing materials can be very rewarding â € "both financially and personally. You get to have total control over the process, to highlight what you know are your best features and most important, and save some money. However, when it's time to make your brochure printing, printing and card printing letterhead trade can be quite involved! Today we give you a summary of comments from some of the terms you need to know to ensure your print job looks the expected.

Paper Sizes
Sometimes the sound confusing, but for most jobs the paper size options are simple. Do you know how big a sheet of A4 paper, so:

A3 folded A4 size width
A2 A3 size double-width
A5 A4 is folded in half crosswise
A6 A5 size is doubled in half crosswise
DL is the size A4 folded in three the width

Paper Types

Coated Paper: A thin layer of clay porcelain that is bright
Uncoated paper: It has a rougher feel mate
Matte, Silk and shine: These are the levels of the layer, the smoothness or gloss over hard rough at least.
Carbonless paper: If you are printing letterhead or printed invoice book, you may want to get carbonless paper to make copies of handwritten documents with ease.

The design process

Margins: To put a hemorrhage in a document means to let photos and pictures color that will run to the edge of the paper after printing, actually going over the edge. If you have graphics to the edge, but do not put a purge, you can finish with a thin white line along the edge of some prints.
CMYK: Stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. Most printers need to be images in CMYK format for printing. CMYK is a color space â € "tells the machine the amount of each color to blend to create images in their design.
DPI â € "Dots per inch: The number of dots per inch determines the size of a picture, can be enlarged without losing detail. Must be at least 150 for the services of most printing.
EPS: preferred file type images that need to be expanded significantly
Grayscale: For ordinary people, black and white â € | although we know that â € ~ black and white 'photos are not really just black and white.
Gutter: If you have the printing of books to be done, this is the area between the text and the edge of the envelope
Pixel: Stands for picture element â € "a single point of many points of different colors created by a digital camera or scanner to form an electronic image.
PMS: Stands for Pantone Matching System, or a set of "trademark" colors
RGB: Another color space typically used in the display. Stands for red, green and blue. Many printing services can not use images in RGB color space.
Spot colors: colors â € ~ patented mixtures of very specific colors. They make printing more expensive.

Printing process

Die cut: To us, a die to cut the paper into a shape other than size that comes into play
Pattern: Click an image on paper so that part of it is above the usual surface
Phantom: When a printed image that appears weak when not supposed to
Taxation: When organizing the pages to a printer, two or more each sheet of paper so that when cut and folded ar supposed to appear as in order.
Imprint: To print new information about something that was already printed, and put the name of a new employee in a preprinted card
proof of the page: A single print of a work, usually for the purpose of checking that everything is correct

Terms

Body: The main part of a textual space, excluding holders
Laminate: A thin plastic sheet or covering applied on paper for protection of water and dirt.
Model: To create a fictional suggested design or printing
