It removed the gutters for winter a good idea?
I wonder if anyone knows if it makes a difference in the winter to take the gutters around the house. It makes me worry about ice dams. I have no water / ice shield under the shingles and that was a big mistake when we bought our house last year. I have the money to do before the winter season. I shovel snow from about 2 or 3 feet last winter everywhere. there was no channel on the back of the house where more snow accumulates. This spring I put up the gutters all back. We have a double-wide manufactured home and the roof pitch is 2 / 12 or something not sure. our home faces west and most of the beating of snow on the front and sits on the roof of the back. ditches are making a bigger ice dam? I I live in northwestern Wisconsin, where you can do a lot of freezing and thawing during the fall and spring.
2 / 12 is almost a tiled roof flat and does not work. The roof should be tar and gravel. Consider the minimum for any slope is 4 / 12 for herpes zoster, because water will run particularly in the wind. The channels will not cause ice dams or slip to prevent exposure before it melts and freezes again. Therefore not a good idea to remove it because once it starts to melt, you want to do everything possible to keep water away from the foundation. You can search by having your roof redone and isolated to prevent ice dams or do not go away.
