Look at Umay sensitive eyes is indescribable.

In a scene Tellingly, the older brother of her shots Umay in an alley outside the room where his sister is married. As she is crying in the gutter, he says, "no want to see you. "But then, as he is walking, it stops for a beat or two while you climb a short flight of stairs. That moment visually shows his ambivalence about what you just did. He loves his sister but can not escape his perverted sense of "honor." This is an inspirational film. In a second the conflict between love and tradition illustrated.

In another extraordinary scene, the father of Umay in hospital after suffering a heart attack, calls Umay forgiveness, but the apology is terribly ironic in a way that is devastating for both Umay and the public.

This is a very important film because raises the question horribly in the world of "honor killings, those that occur when male family members kill girls or women have "shamed" their families. In some cultures, including those examined in this film, if a woman has sex (even if raped) with a man not her husband or if she leaves her husband and divorces, she brings shame to his family. Kill is the way to regain the respect of the family within the community. The director film, Ugly Aladag, a very attractive and articulate woman, told attendees at a round table as documented 5,000 murders each year and many, many more unreported.
