Relationship between artist and agent?

Hi, I was wondering if someone could explain in brief how a relationship between an artist works buisiness and an agent. I'm thinking of starting a business with a friend and wondered how the focus of the company. If we start a partnership firm would not think protected by example. if you spend a long time and things that money promoting this product people and, finally, the takeoff is not stopping this person from incorperating only with another name and let me in the gutter. But if I act as agent and treat the product as "art" can sign a contract as an agent and protect themselves better and have more control about the process? So are the pros and cons of both strategies. Thank you

You're absolutely right: if you start an association (which is different from a "Society of the Association"), you are not really protected. Either party can easily walk from the association. Since you will be the agent of the artist, your best protection is to have a contract agent-artist, explains exactly what services you offer, how they should be compensated, the duration the contract renewal provisions, and the conditions under which each side can terminate the contract. Do not try to write the same contract. The few hundred dollars spend on a lawyer will be worth the price. Good luck.
