How do I get rid of mold growing on my roof, near a window?

One of the bedrooms in my house has mold on the ceiling near the window. I the roof beams had been verified and are not rotting, someone suggested that might be the gutters. Do you clean gutters? How do I get rid of the mold on the roof? Does anyone know of an effective treatment? I could solve the problem? Thanks O
