Repaing a leaky roof leak in a valley?
I found a leak in my house only leaks when it rains hard and long wind below of the flashing at the seam. The flashing is just caulked all the way and on both sides and at each joint between the flashing. I do not think is putting the roof, because is clear. (1) My question is should I remove all old putty then fill with caulk roof again. Then I thought joe black area on top of the putty. (2) Also my gutters are nailed to the top of the shingles I joe black too? (3) There are also a few broken tiles I joe black only around areas broken? (4) Why is my drip edge at the top of the shingles? I thought it would be under the guard of ice?
When re-packing, make sure the area is clean. Do not stick well to metal dirty, rusty. Try 100% silicone caulk or an elastomer. Use this for seams instead of goop Henry type. That eventually crack up as it dries. Seal the hangers channel as well. Henry can be used to "glue" the broken tiles in place. Sure that in any nail holes goop too. As for the downspout has been installed wrong. If you remove it and put it back under the shingles may not be able to nail properly. hard there.
