Grantham History

The Spotted Cow began life as a house beer, before being rebuilt in its current form to become a public house in the early 20th century. The property eventually received his full license after the DCI Artichokes in Swinegate was closed in 1921. The property currently is undergoing extensive renovation, although it should be noted that the external features as far as possible is going to be in line with what the property was like during the middle of his life. To try to maintain the property to be in line with what was formerly the historical research was carried out. Surprisingly, even though it is a social center in the south of Grantham, very few pictures could be obtained, and two things about the property could be found, most of which are summarized in the introduction to this article. But from the photos contained at least one was of value. First place the chimneys were taken to aid in maintaining the property in recent years, but more importantly they were of value and the bricks were saved, and used to repair any change in the exterior of the property. The original shingles were removed and the entire roof section launched again and felt sabers. The next important step in the project was the choice of the tile that would be used to re-tile. Also in this great effort was introduced. The choice fell through the above reasons, leaving a clay tile replacement as the only option. Currently only two companies importantly ceramic tile made the modern alternative to the original clay tiles, Sandtoft and Ethernet Marley. The main factor in deciding between these companies was that there was a choice consistency color throughout the tile, so this was chosen. To be consistent with Public House tradition and also emphasized the building of those around him, a mixture of curvature single smooth red clay tiles and four rows of soft red clay tiles in the middle of the club, run through the entire deck. The exterior woodwork of the building was another key issue. Another feature of the building was windows. The original were of wood construction. Here the products of PVC, were considered for installation, but soon dismissed as not in keeping with the spirit of the building. Therefore it was decided that new windows are custom made use made of Sapelli. The windows to all goods were to match the design of the windows the main facade.
