advise on the roof / ice dams?

THIS IS A 1950 Cape Cod 1 1 / 2 Stories HIGH.THE SNOW is hitting the roof, because HOT ROOF INTERNAL HEAT, some snow and ICE TURNING to running water. It flows into the stream, because its like 5 degrees WITHIN THEIR refreezing Gutter, TO START WITH STUFFING OF FROZEN ICE. MAS is now flowing over ass GUTTER.ICE ICED UP FRONT RUNNING DOWN THE HOUSE, FRONT ACHUALLY icy HOUSE.WHAT a disaster, Any advise APPRECIATED.THANKYOY I'm thinking SOME HEAT TAPE TYPE CEILING HOOD any planned or CHANNEL COVER FOR WINTER WEATHER?

Installation of heat tape in the gutter is probably the best way to do this I have had this problem with some apt. complex and that are newer so I Bldgs heat tape in gutters and problem solved. You can buy long rolls the tape so you can make your own lengths.Hope this helps. It may not be very cheap up front, but when you think of all leaks and water damage from ice dams is not so bad not to mention the time it saves by not having to deal with this problem again.
