Installing drainage pipe lines to direct water down the street?

OK, so the rate at The Home Depot recommends using 4 "tube drainage. I went to check and 4 "tubes are huge! Seems an exaggeration. What do you think? Are 3" acceptable? Moreover, I worry that the 4 " tubes emerging from the earth could be unpleasant. I saw a fence-type equipment in the ditch water dumps in the fireplace is in contact with its network of drainage lines. Any another idea of how to hide the drain pipe instead of the channel is inserted into a huge black pipe? I guess you could paint the pipe. Thanx in advance.

There are several things that are happening here, with a stage,,, # 1,,, like the previous person said, make sure your town has no prohibitions with respect to the point of dumping or discharge of runoff to the street. Some countries are very particular, which, of course, allow the flow of the blade of his property and then point discharges to deny a property owner. # 2,,, 4 "diameter corrugated or smooth wall pipe is typical for handling discharge channel. If like, you can use a 3 "receptors in the down pipe and tie a 4" main line. Part of the reason for the 4 "size is that it's cheap MFGR. and sell one size fits all solution. The other, more important, reason is the ability of the drain line to manage the flow of your roof, without giving up ago. During heavy rains there is a huge volume of water from your roof sheeting in the ditch, then a vertical drop tube that acts as a trap to the sewer. Once the water hits the downspout discharge drain line, if not properly sized, the possibility of a dam. When water comes dam tube downstream siphon action slows, the water accumulates in the stream, and then you can get hit over sewers. # 3,,, the fireplace that you describe is most likely called a patio grill, patio or a leak. These work well for water collection sheet of low volume, which are more easily overwhelmed a discharge point, as a down pipe unless the discharge grill 4 "in diameter and the collection grid is larger than 16" x 16 ". I've seen an 8 "x 12" uses the grid entry into confined spaces, can not believe I would handle a down pipe, however. # 4,,, Appearances. Our typical approach is that the 4 "drain extend only 3" above the grass or mulch in the area, use a downspout adapter plug, and extend the tube downhill into the gutter by 4 "- 6" instead of bringing the drain side of the structure of a foot or more. The landscape supply houses are now starting to shares in a dirty green cap adapter that is more enjoyable for the landscape. Home Depot, against all odds, sometimes manages to do well. More often, only make the point in the direction of what they sell without an understanding beyond that. This time they got it right.
