New House w / basement issue … HELP!?

Ok, I'm new to all this the new home. It turns out that the house we are in the process of buying, tracking space has 4 inches of water. The termite inspector suggested a French drain. What is a French drain? Who installed French drains? How cost to get installed? The house is 3 years old (Foreclosure), in good condition, except the door and the carpet has to be replaced … oh, of course, crawl space should be careful with all that water (when accumilates when it rains). The house is about 1400 square feet and the house is stabilized a bit, so that the house has a small drainage problem. I'm planning to do something about making the channel longer and more efficiently. What do you think you? PS I got a home inspector to check the house …. That was more or less the main concern of the inspector.

A French drain is simply a hole dug in the ground and filled with gravel. This is the excess water and let it release slowly into the ground. I do not think this will work in your crawl space though. We must return to grade the exterior of the property so that water drains away from the house. Check downspouts if you have channels. Often downspouts dump the water near the house, find their way underneath. You may want to call someone that is dried in the pipes. All this moisture can cause mold and mildew problems in their apartments, and a huge repair bill on the road.
