Is it OK to connect downspouts channel in French drain system?

French drains into a sump pump in the basement. This is how it is configured now, but in our new home. I wonder if I disconnect some of the downspouts and make it flow into the yard with a new drain i French could dig. Also, how to end a French drain that is underground or above and put it in the end?
