Can someone explain how to use channels with CSS?

Gutters are usually the names applied to the spaces between the blocks. For example, go see a Google-loaded with news and all that (or a page of my Yahoo). Note that there are no spaces between the columns of things. These are called gutters. When the CSS is configured to define the columns (for example, the first column is 30% of the screen, and left floating, and the second is 65% and is floated right, then that leaves you a 5% "channel" in which the space frontier end can flow, for readability.
