The Yankees-Red Sox rivalry under both of these categories
A fight in New York, Boston is the biggest fight of all sports. No other party in professional sports offers as much history, hostility and competition and when the Yankees and Sox assemble and prepare for battle. Where can you see a coach 73 years old, thrown to the ground by the opposing team's star pitcher? The only place to take such action and the intensity is in the Bronx or at Fenway Park. Hatred New York, Boston is unique in professional sports and baseball is something that needs to survive in an era marked with an asterisk.
For a time in baseball in which many viewers felt cheated due to allegations of performance enhancing drug use, the sport needs something out of the gutter. All that can revive America's Pastime is the hallmark of reckoning between the "Evil Empire" and former BoSox damn.
Whether George Will Steinbrenner screaming their own club or opposition Sox can guarantee that whatever the outcome, which will be historic. Each time these two teams meet for the American League East war, the fire begins to reawaken in the eyes of fan.
No other game in the sport has created horror of this kind between two cities Yankees and Red Sox. No other rivalry has been a catalyst to cause two grounds crew members to jump into the visiting bullpen to try to have Jeff Nelson and Karim Garcia, as seen in the 2003 ALCS at Fenway Park.
The Yankees and Red Sox have a history, and at the same time, a relationship manic. Bitter revenge between these two teams is something that must be present for baseball to survive. Every person in America is tired of hearing about Barry Bonds, BALCO, and every mind-numbing reports of other steroids that have been regurgitated over and over again in recent months. Yankees-Red Sox are the perfect way for fans to recover an appreciation for the sport by recognizing the great history between the two teams.
Even in May, when the games will not carry as much weight as they do at the end of the season, New York to Boston is a great thing. The close-season meeting between the two teams always pressure the players bring their "A fan to games' to the stadium and allow the respective cities for bragging rights.
There are other great rivalries over all sports but none of them contains the taste and all pale in comparison with the zeal that he brings to the table when Joe Torre's squad faces Terry Francona. No other rivalry has a history as rich and deep contempt as the saga that takes in the city when Bean is the Bronx, or vice versa, and quite frankly, will never be another rivalry that is half big.
The odds that the Yankees win the series this week were 8.5 http://www.WagerWeb.com @
