Production
Most shot an episode of on the set before a live audience at Teddington Studios. There are two main groups, one is the plane and the other is the bar that Tim Lee and frequent. Outdoor shots and take real place indoors have also been used on occasion.
The show is filmed in high definition HD, although unlike other comedies is not simulcast on BBC BBC HD channel, but shown on BBC HD, 30 minutes after the BBC One broadcast.
Much of the humor is based on puns and double meanings so deadpan delivery. This is the style of comedy Lee Mack and Tim Vine has been used both in stand-up and in The Sketch Show, to the extent that an occasional one-liner of his solo performances slips in. This is on one side of Kate is often the victim of the joke. visual gags are also often used.
In the first series, the episodes would be written by Mack and Andrew Collins, members of the cast credit for additional material. Series 2 saw Simon Evans and Paul Kerensa join the drafting team. Mack and Labour is to write Collins material most of the episode with Evans and gagging Kerensa "up. Series 3 saw the writing team to significantly expand with writers such as Henry Darin, Daniel and Simon Dean Pico contribute to the main episodes (all co-written with Mack) and "gag writing team" was expanded from two of them nearly so until eight members (excluding head writers) in a single episode.
In the original series pilot, which has not been issued, by Kate was interpreted by Catherine Tate.
Lee Mack said during a recent concert stand that not actually leaving would be back for a fourth season, to the delight of many fans.
Title sequence
The first series featured Tim, Lee and Kate doing an unusual dance in a haze of blue lights on with signs saying "NO" "Go" and "OUT." At the end of the sequence, and Tim Lee grabbed their signs and Kate sat on it. The Read signal lights went out.
The second series was quite similar, although with the departure of Kate, his place was taken by new character Lucy. The sequence ended with the title standing holding Lucy and Tim Lee registration. An addition to the title sequence was that when Lee came out strong, you actually could hear the electricity going. Then comes the conclusion Barbara a plug and said: "Sorry." This sequence remained the same for the 3 Series.
The title sequence of the Christmas specials were similar at one Series 2 and 3, the only differences are that Lee, Tim, Lucy and Barbara are all Christmas hats in the end, and Barbara says, "Merry Christmas" and laughs instead of his usual, "Sorry."
The theme song, written by Alex Walsh-Taylor and arranged by Steve Brown, has the voice of an impersonator Frank Sinatra. The letters are:
We're not going out
Do not stay in
Just hanging around with my head in a spin
But there is no need to scream and shout
We are not go
We're not going out
