First you need to create and the equation for the volume of this flow is w = h * V, so we know that there is a relationship between H and W and that the relationship is 2h + w = W 8so solution to obtain w = 8-2am if plug that into the original equation obtain 8h-2h ^ 2 = V differentiate both sides with respect to h we have 8-4h = 0 so h = 2, we know that is a maximum, since the equation is a concave porabola down. So the answer is h = 2 and W = 4 inches
