What to look for when inspecting your home to weather damage

Colorado has quite the variety of weather. While we average more than three hundred days of sunshine a year, we also have lots of snow, harsh winter weather, high winds and weeks of rain. It is worth inspecting your home each spring to avoid any small problem that can, without care, they become large and costly issues. So the next sunny day, a walk around your house. Keep an eye out for:

Stucco cladding? Look for hairline cracks near windows or doors, water can migrate inside and cause mold. Caulking careful can avoid a lot of problems.
Woodpecker drilling away? Look for small holes about one to two inches round. These birds can be fun cartoon characters, but in real life its drilling of almost any investment they can find not funny. Completion holes in the "off season" and keep a good coat of paint in your home is a vital step in bird-proof house.
