Guttermouth – Musical Monkey $14.05 Audio Mixers: Donnell Cameron; Kevin Dill; Derek Davis; Captain James T. Nunn; Scott Sheldon; Mark Adkins.Recording information: West Beach Recorders. From Orange County comes a band that reflects all the worst aspects of the Orange County punk scene. Of course they`re homophobic, exemplified on the song "Big Pink Dress," where they sing frat-nitwit lyrics like, "I live with Bill/It`s such a thrill/We get on so fine/We tend our garden every day/Sometimes we get 69." Guttermouth also try to be sarcastic and humorous ¿ la the Vandals. Musically, they play by-the-numbers punk rock. "Corpse Rotting in Hell," a minute-long takeoff on death metal with a dog bark at the end, is a standout and worth a chuckle. ~ Adam Bregman Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. For personal use only. Guttermouth – Beyond Warped: Live Music Series * $12.98 Guttermouth are rowdy, sarcastic, and unruly punk rockers who have held true to the spirit of how punk used to be when they formed over a decade ago. Basically, they`re a breath of fresh air from the cautious, fashionable nature of some of today`s mainstream punk acts. But that aside, seeing as this DualDisc release is entitled Beyond Warped Live Music Series, one might expect to hear some of the raw, irreverent punk the band is known for, complete with the inevitable crowd screaming and between-song banter live albums do best. A closer look on the back, however, shows all nine tracks to be studio tracks. And with the record clocking in at just under 20 minutes, it almost seems like the band took its set list from the 2004 Warped Tour and compiled the album versions of those songs for this record. Don`t misunderstand; people who love Guttermouth will love the songs — though most probably already have them on another disc. Aside from two random songs — the standout scene cynicism of "Skater`s Anthem" and "Mom," a bitter, cruel track that one could somehow see a punk Eminem enjoying — the tracks were pulled from only three of the band`s prior albums. The DVD side has nine well-shot live videos from their Warped performance, one for each song, and the bonus features include — drum roll please — the audio tracks from the CD side. The album is good, especially the videos for true Guttermouth fans, but not for people in the market for a live album. In that case, just skip this one and enjoy the live ones the band has already released. ~ Corey Apar Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. For personal use only. All rights reserved. |

Cab Calloway – Best of the Big Bands $6.11 Cab Calloway`s eccentric personality and wild onstage antics often overshadowed his musical contributions, when in fact, as this superb Columbia sampler demonstrates, the two went hand in hand. On all-time classic tracks like "The Jumpin` Jive," "Reefer Man," and the inexhaustible "Minnie the Moocher," the Hi-Di-Ho man`s exuberance and vitality as a performer is grounded by his tight bandleading and the outstanding playing of his orchestra (which, over the years, included such greats as Dizzy Gillespie, Eddie Barefield and Chu Berry).Brought to the forefront on tunes like "Pickin` Up the Cabbage" and "Bye Bye Blues," which features outstanding trumpet and vibraphone spots, the ensemble plays in classic Duke Ellington big band swing mode (the Duke is honored here on a cover of "Take the A Train"); but it`s Calloway`s accomplished, distinctive vocals that deserve real notice here. His fluent scats, his irresistible call and response segments, and the rapid, elastic phrasing on tunes like "Beale Street Mama," prove he`s more than a mere showman. This BEST OF THE BIG BANDS installment is an excellent showcase for the talents of this 20th century legend. Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. For personal use only. All rights reserved. |

Chumbawamba – The Boy Bands Have Won * $15.98 Over the years, British iconoclasts Chumbawamba tranversed a startlingly wide array of styles, starting out in the 1980s as a Crass-like collective of anarchic punk rockers. By the `90s, they were incorporating pop and electronics into their sound (resulting in their 1997 hit "Tubthumping"). The 21st-century version of the band, as represented on THE BOY BANDS HAVE WON (2008), is worlds away from either of those incarnations. The Chumbas have become a straight-up folk band. While their lyrics are still full of cleverness and social comment, they`re framed by acoustic guitar strumming and vocal harmonies that would not sound out of place on a Steeleye Span album. Zacuto Z-Bands for Z-Finder DSLR Optical Viewfinder $15.99 Z-Bands are an option for the Zacuto Z-Finder. The Z-Bands are elastic rubber bands to help hold the Z-finder in place, it is not a way to hold the z-finder on the camera. The Z-Bands are just a security measure to hold the z-finder in place in case of accidental bumping just like the lanyard. The mounting frame and the Z-Bands must be used together. The Z-bands include 4 red aluminum balls and two elastic bands. PLEASE NOTE: The Z-Bands will not work with the Canon 7D due to the different shape and curvature of the camera. They may work if you have a quick release adapter underneath the camera, which will allow the bands to wrap around. Please call us if you have any questions about this. |
