Atlanta hail insurance claims process

1. Weather related claims such as wind or hail is considered an act of God and can not be used against you. Any increase in premiums are a state or national level, not individually.

2.Roof inspection to determine if there has been some hail damage or the wind is free to you, in order to determine whether or not to file an insurance claim.

3. Covers damage claims are very subjective and is therefore very important to have professional representation .

4. Roofing contractors represent their insurance company when making the final decision, and presented on its behalf for additional funds, if any damage be discovered during the process of replacing your roof.

Will my insurance quote the correct amount for the job at home?

Not necessarily, sometimes, insurance companies exclude coverage of the essential elements of the roof construction is essential for the proper replacement and longevity of your new roof. These elements are called incidentals. Vents include, singing, flashing, taxes, rates and more downloads. The estimate of the company gives insurance is just that, an estimate. The price may vary once the full scope of the replacement is identified by its roofing contractor, the insurer will be responsible for these charges

How I can know if I have hail damage to my roof? "I can that land?
If you've had hail in your area to determine if the shingles have been damaged a close inspection of the tiles must be from the ceiling. Usually can not be said of the land.

If I think I hail what should I do?
Call your insurance company and ask for an adjuster to come inspect your roof for hail damage. Call a roofing company in good standing and ask the same inspection. If there is any discrepancy between the findings of adjusters and repair of the conclusions of which may require a "RE-INSPECTION" where your adjuster meets with roofer to go over the roof together. Re-inspections are very common.

The insurance company must determine two things when assessing the amount of loss:

  1. Was there sufficient damage to the roof to declare it a total loss? (Usually determined by 10 verified hail hits per 100 square feet).
  2. What is the size of ceiling tiles and how many will be needed to replace the roof

What does hail do to a roof? tiles are designed so that the granules of block UV rays from the sun and protect the base layer of asphalt. As age tile of the granules fall off over time. As the asphalt is exposed the UV, it dries and the tile is a "potato chip" appearance as the corners start to curl. A pebble at the end of its life is bubbled in appearance and is brittle to the touch. A 20-year shingle is warranted by the manufacturer to have a life, in conditions optimal ventilation of 20 years. Hail does several things:

  • Accelerates granule loss.
  • Accelerates aging of the tile.
  • Voids manufacturer warranties.
  • Leads to other associated problems.

No I have to get my roof replaced right away?
The insidious nature of hail damage is that it can not represent an immediate threat to the structural integrity of the roof. However, many insurance companies have a "statute of limitations" on how long a hail claim is viable. If you have suffered a loss such as hail damage it is prudent to take care of the problem in a timely manner before it leads to other associated problems.

What does hail hit it?
The hail hit on a shingle looks like a "bruise" or a dark spot in the granules of the shingle have been knocked down and the coating asphalt and sometimes the fiberglass mat is exposed. New hail hits will have a shiny appearance because the asphalt has been freshly exposed and has not had time time opaque.

Why is my insurance company replace my roof?
The purpose of homeowners insurance the house is to protect owners against losses in property values due to damage that is beyond their control. If you have hail damage, who have experienced a financial loss that your original investment ceiling of 20 years (for example) is now reduced to a life span 50-10 years. Your insurance company will compensate you for your loss and replace your roof.

Why is the estimate read that there are more shingles to replace then be eliminated?
The amount of shingles to remove from your roof is the actual amount of square feet that leads to the roof tiles. However, to put on shingles, some shingles have to be cut to fit dimensions, ridges, hips and valleys. The insurance company adds 10% to regular roofing peak and 15% of the roofs come together to account for the loss of shingles.

My gutters and siding were damaged and the insurance company I paid for how many meters had to be replaced.
When I called a contractor who had a minimum rate was much higher than the small amount of the insurance company paid me. What I can do? Your insurance company understands minimum charges and set such prices are willing to pay minimum charges for all trades. They do not give you the minimum charge in advance, because a large percentage of their customers never call a contractor and only pocket money. If you call your adjuster and ask for the minimum price for the job, they will pay without any hesitation.

In my adaptation, my insurance company deducted some money for depreciation, what is all this?
Different insurance companies call the amount they hold things different. Some call it depreciation; other companies listed on a discharge rate and removal. What it represents is the amount of money the company will out again until they receive a signed contract from you and a construction contractor. When they receive a signed contract, you
receive another check for the amount that have slowed.

My insurance adjuster said there was no hail damage on his first inspection, I asked my roofing estimator to call him and ask to walk through a re-inspection with him. In the re-inspection the adjuster concluded that there was hail damage and "destroyed" the ceiling. Why a dramatic turn around?
There are many reasons why this happens so often. Sometimes adjusters get to a roof too close to reality damage and the hits have not had the opportunity of time yet. At times, regulators have no experience. Sometimes they were tired after looking on roofs so many that day. Sometimes simply wrong. The best results for the owners seem to be obtained when a contractor "> roofer experienced guide through inspection with the insurance adjuster and calls attention to the adjustment of the damage that he sees.
